Caris and Steven’s fall Rocky Hill wedding perfectly blended traditional and non-traditional elements, creating a day that was uniquely their own. From the smallest details to the overall flow of the day, they prioritized what truly mattered to them and left out what didn’t. This approach is a growing trend we’ve noticed since the pandemic, as couples feel more empowered to break away from tradition and embrace their personal preferences.
Rather than adhering to the traditional “first look,” Caris and Steven chose to see each other early in the day. This decision allowed them to maximize their time together and take advantage of the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge for family and wedding party photos.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a mid-October day. It was 70 degrees, sunny, and, surprisingly, calm—an anomaly in the famously windy Gorge. The stunning scenery of the Gorge, with its vibrant fall colors, set the stage for unforgettable photos that showcased the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Back at Rocky Hill, the couple took some time to relax before their guests arrived. The extended deck, surrounded by fall foliage, created the feeling of being married in the trees. As a Gorge wedding photographer, moments like this are a dream to capture—where nature and love come together so seamlessly.
After a delicious dinner and heartfelt toasts, the evening took a fun and unexpected turn. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Caris and Steven opted for a piñata! Filled with candy and mini shooters, it was a hit with guests of all ages and added a playful, memorable touch to the celebration. The party continued late into the night, with laughter, dancing, and an unmistakable sense of joy filling the air.
